Fancy a break? - get away from it all!

With sea views, organic fair-trade linen, Welsh woollen blankets & hot water bottles, radio but no TV, our rooms are a real escape. There is a spacious guest lounge with a good selection of books, television, & wonderful view of the harbour. Breakfast is in our bright dining-room and consists of a lovely buffet (mostly organic & home-made), & full menu cooked to order with Cornish home-cured bacon, sausage & hogs pudding from Trevaskis Farm (vegetarian options available).

Winter on Scilly is a real contrast to the Spring and Summer months. The low sun creates a beautiful light casting long shadows. The town is comparatively deserted and you can often take a walk around the coast and hardly see another soul. It is a wonderful time to see the islands a little wilder and the islanders a little more peaceful! The local narcissi are colourful and abundant and the fields are dotted with pickers. Take the opportunity to explore St Mary's fully, taking the coast path right round or the nature trails & pathways that criss-cross the island.

When the weather turns more tempestuous & the sea is raging, essential freight boats struggle in the mountainous white waves that crash over the quay and the cliffs. If the weather is suitably stormy, why not read a book in the window all day long (or the papers, if they have arrived on the island!) before venturing to the pub for a meal & a local pint or two.

Christmas shopping driving you mad? The shops are often quiet at this time of year so you really can take your time to visit the lovely shops on St Mary's stocking beautiful & local goods for fantastic present ideas. Ask us for suggestions!

Mincarlo is an ideal base for a winter break on Scilly. We are only opening sea view rooms. We are open until 17th December and again from 3rd January until the first week of February.
