MORGELYN ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY My reasons for joining the G.T.B.S. are many but as far back as I can remember I have always hated waste. Perhaps being a post war baby and being half Scottish has something to so with it. Below I have listed a few things that I do to help the environment here on our beautiful islands and beyond.
FUTURE AIMS.
HOW YOU CAN HELP AS A VISITOR Buy local food from road side stalls and monthly produce market in the Town Hall.Try to buy locally made gifts and paintings from the Galleries. Whenever possible avoid accepting plastic bags. Think about how you travel to Scilly as some ways of travel are much more harmful than others to the environment. Use the bus in preference to taxis if you don’t feel like walking. Use the time switch on your heaters so you don’t have to leave them on all day and switch off lights that are not in use. Water is precious on these islands so use wisely. It is quite safe to drink so no need to keep buying bottled water. Short flush on toilet except when necessary for long flush. Fresh towels are offered mid stay if you want them but if you need more please ask. Please keep tins , plastic milk cartons and glass separate so I can take them for recycling. If you need your compost bin emptied leave it outside my kitchen door and I will empty it and return it clean. Disclaimer. I am doing my best to reduce the negative impact on the environment but do not claim to be perfect! Any constructive criticism is welcome.
